Kids' Toys.
The cold this winter is
vicious and so are the shoppers that endure it while waiting camping
outside the store so that the minute the doors open they can stampede
through, trampling anyone who dares obstruct the path to Elmo Live
Encore.
It will probably be just as crazy, if not crazier, than the notorious
Tickle Me Elmo rampage of 1996. What is it with Elmo? But in general,
kids toys have a long standing reputation of bringing out the worst in
consumers, especially during the holidays when everyone’s looking for
the best stocking stuffers.
Children become spoiled brats, parents become pirahnas and store
employees join those among the most unfortunate in the world. They’ll
have to convince themselves that holiday pay is worth facing the wrath
of swarms of overzealous, angry and unsatisfied customers.
Everyone knows that the sensible thing to do is to wait until the craze
over the hottest kids toys dies down a bit, and the price and demand
lower a bit, but knowing and doing are two different things. So if you
can’t be convinced to back down, or your kids won’t let you, then you
might as well prepare yourself as best as you can.
It’s a good idea to know early on which kids toys are going to be the
most popular and sought after so that you can plan early, possibly even
getting a hold of them before the mad rush. Elmo Live Encore is a sure
winner---other hot toys of Christmas 2009 are the Zhu Zhu pets, Twilight
Barbies, Nintendo DSi and Nintendo Wii, Transformers action figures,
Hannah Montana toys, Leap Frog Text and Learn, and Dance Around Dora.
Some of these, like the Nintendo consoles, Hannah Montana and
Transformers are fairly easy to find, so if those are among your choices
the time is ripe. Others like the Zhu Zhu pets are extremely difficult
to get a hold and remain in popular demand. Parents will be fighting
over them for sure.
Unfortunately, sometimes you just can’t win. Hot kids toys often remain
low in stock and chasing after them from store to store is an exhausting
ordeal, and lots of times you just aren’t able to find them in the end.
In this case, it’s good to prepare some good substitute or alternative
Christmas toys for kids.
Alternatives might be a better idea, since having a toy that’s close but
not quite the real thing can be even worse than not having it at all. So
look to your kid’s other interests and hopefully you’ll be able to
survive the Christmas shopping season intact. |
